You are Invited: Data for Black Lives III |
|
Dear friends, I am thrilled to invite you to Miami, FL, this November for our third Data for Black Lives conference. When we launched Data for Black Lives in 2017 with our first conference, this country was at an inflection point. AI was still nascent, and the world was beginning to grapple with its perils and possibilities. At the same time, the aftermath of an election would expose the divisiveness and vitriol at work in our political system. Join us for Data for Black Lives III. Today, ‘AI’ is everywhere, but the popularity of chatbots and virtual assistants distracts from its weaponization through credit scoring and hiring systems, social media surveillance, and public health. And while efforts to turn the clock back 400 years on our Civil Rights are on the rise, we know this is a direct response to political power we have built collectively. This November we will convene to change the role that data plays in public life by ensuring that as computational power increases exponentially, American public policy changes fundamentally. Together, we will gather to chart out the future. If you can join us, please RSVP by filling out the pre-registration survey. Tickets will be sold in September. We look forward to seeing you at our opening ceremony on November 18 at 5 p.m. at the Perez Art Museum! Much love, Yeshi |
Will we see you in Miami? RSVP by completing the pre-registration survey. Please note: this is not your official registration. Tickets will go on sale in September. This information will help us finalize event logistics as we gear up to welcome everyone in November. |
